Target Information

Pantothenate kinase는 CoA 생합성의 필수 조절 효소로, pantothenate(vitamin B5), N-pantothenoylcysteine, pantetheine의 세포질 인산화를 촉매합니다. CoA는 주요 acyl carrier로, 중간대사 및 지방산 대사에 중심적인 역할을 합니다.
PANK2 유전자의 돌연변이는 pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN, Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome)과 관련이 있으며, 이는 뇌 내 철 축적을 특징으로 하는 상염색체 열성 신경퇴행성 질환입니다. 또한 hypoprebetalipoproteinemia, acanthocytosis, retinitis pigmentosa, pallidal degeneration (HARP)와도 연관됩니다.
