Target Information
Estrogen Receptors (ER)은 스테로이드/갑상선 호르몬 수용체 초가족에 속하는 핵 수용체입니다. Estrogen 결합 시 전사인자로서 활성화되어 DNA 내 Estrogen Response Element (ERE)에 결합하고, 공동활성화인자(coactivator) 또는 공동억제인자(corepressor)를 모집하여 유전자 전사를 조절합니다.
ER에는 alpha(ESR1)와 beta(ESR2)의 두 가지 주요 형태가 있으며, 다양한 RNA 스플라이싱으로 인해 적어도 4가지 ER-alpha isoform (66, 53, 47, 35 kDa)이 존재합니다.
Estrogen receptors는 생식 기관뿐 아니라 뼈 등 다양한 조직에서 발현되며, 성 발달, 생식 기능, 골대사에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한 유방암, 자궁내막암, 골다공증 등 여러 병리적 과정과 관련이 있습니다.
