Target Information
The Ras-related superfamily of guanine nucleotide binding proteins, which includes the R-Ras, Rap, Ral/Rec and Rho/Rab superfamilies, exhibit 30–60% homology with Ras p21. Rab proteins play important roles in endocytosis and biosynthetic protein transport, mediating vesicle trafficking between the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, and secretory vesicles.
Rab 8B (Ras-related protein Rab-8B) is a 207 amino acid lipid-anchored protein localized on the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane. It belongs to the Rab family and small GTPase superfamily. Rab 8B may be involved in neurotransmitter release and vesicular trafficking, encoded by a gene located on human chromosome Rab 8B and mouse chromosome 9C.
