SR-BII는 HDL을 결합하고 선택적 콜레스테릴 에스터 흡수를 매개하지만 SR-BI보다 약 4배 낮은 효율을 보입니다. SR-BII는 간, 부신, 고환 등 SR-BI이 발현되는 조직에서 풍부하게 존재하며, 기능적 HDL 수용체로 작용할 가능성이 있습니다. SR-BII mRNA는 SR-BI 전구체 전사체의 대체 스플라이싱으로 생성되며, HDL과 세포 간 지질 전달을 조절하는 역할을 합니다.
