Target Information
Epitope tags provide a method to localize gene products in various cell types, study protein topology and complexes, identify associated proteins, and characterize newly identified or low abundance proteins when specific antibodies are not available.
The V5 epitope tag is derived from a small epitope (Pk) present on the P and V proteins of the paramyxovirus simian virus 5 (SV5). The V5 tag typically includes all 14 amino acids (GKPIPNPLLGLDST), though shorter versions with 9 amino acids (IPNPLLGLD) are also used.
