Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) functions as a cell surface kinesin I membrane receptor, mediating axonal transport of beta-secretase and presenilin 1.
APP is a 100–140 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein with multiple isoforms generated by alternative splicing.
Proteolytic cleavage of APP by beta- and gamma-secretases produces beta amyloid, the main component of senile plaques—key histopathologic features of Alzheimer’s disease.
Abnormal APP regulation and processing are also implicated in Down’s syndrome, familial Alzheimer’s disease, and cerebral hemorrhage.
