Target Information
CCR7 is a member of the G protein coupled receptor family, a subfamily of chemokine receptors. It was identified as being induced by the Epstein Barr virus (EBV) and is thought to mediate EBV effects on B lymphocytes. CCR7 is expressed in blood, bone marrow, lymph node, and intestine, particularly in lymphoid tissues and activated B and T lymphocytes. It plays a role in controlling the migration of memory T cells to inflamed tissues and stimulates dendritic cell maturation. The chemokine ligand CCL19 (ECL) is a specific ligand for this receptor. Receptors in the C-C chemokine family, including CCR1–5 and the Duffy antigen, are important for T cell chemotaxis and phagocytic cell migration to sites of inflammation.
