Target Information
DTX3L is a component of the shelterin complex (telosome) involved in the regulation of telomere length and protection. Shelterin binds to double-stranded TTAGGG repeats added by telomerase, protecting chromosome ends from DNA damage responses. It promotes binding of POT1 to single-stranded telomeric DNA and modulates POT1’s inhibitory effects on telomere elongation. The ACD-POT1 heterodimer enhances telomerase processivity and telomere elongation and may also play a role in organogenesis.
