Target Information

The HAND2 gene encodes a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor, one of the HAND family proteins. These proteins are asymmetrically expressed in developing ventricular chambers and are essential for cardiac morphogenesis. HAND2 functions in the formation of the right ventricle and aortic arch arteries, playing a role in congenital heart disease. It also contributes to limb and branchial arch development.
