Target Information
The LEF1 gene encodes a transcription factor belonging to the high mobility group protein family. This protein binds to a critical site in the T-cell receptor-alpha enhancer, conferring maximal enhancer activity. It is involved in the Wnt signaling pathway, playing roles in hair cell differentiation and follicle morphogenesis. Mutations have been associated with sebaceous tumors and androgen-independent prostate cancer. Alternative splicing leads to multiple transcript variants.
