Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CD38 (NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that induces activation, proliferation, and differentiation of mature lymphocytes and mediates apoptosis of myeloid and lymphoid progenitor cells.
It functions as a multi-catalytic ectoenzyme serving as ADP-ribosyl cyclase, cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase, and possibly NAD⁺ glycohydrolase or as a cell surface receptor.
Antibodies to CD38 are useful in subtyping lymphomas and leukemias, detecting plasma cells (e.g., identifying myelomas), and as markers for activated B and T cells.
CD38 participates in cell adhesion, signal transduction, and calcium signaling. It is highly expressed in the pancreas, liver, kidney, malignant lymphoma, and neuroblastoma.
Diseases associated with CD38 dysfunction include chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Richter’s Syndrome.
