Target Information
CDC7 is a cell division cycle 7 homolog protein that is critical for the G1/S transition and is essential for initiation of DNA replication during cell division. CDC7 is expressed in many normal tissues, but overexpression may be associated with neoplastic transformation in some tumors and transformed cell lines.
CDC7/DBF4 kinase promotes S phase progression by alleviating inhibitory activity in Mcm4. The gene encodes a cell division cycle protein with kinase activity vital for the G1/S transition. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been detected.
