Product Specific Information

PA1-85149 shows <1% cross-reactivity with Androstenedione, Corticosterone, DHEA, or Desoxycorticosterone, as determined using a competitive ELISA with 400 ng of aldosterone-3-BSA per well.
This antibody has been cross-absorbed with BSA.
Rabbit anti-Aldosterone antibody recognizes aldosterone, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that helps regulate blood pressure through increasing both the release of potassium and the uptake of water and sodium by the kidneys.

Target Information

Aldosterone is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that helps regulate blood pressure through increasing both the release of potassium and the uptake of water and sodium by the kidneys.
It is essential for sodium conservation in the kidney, salivary glands, sweat glands, and colon. It plays a central role in the regulation of plasma sodium (Na+), extracellular potassium (K+), and arterial blood pressure.
Aldosterone acts mainly on mineralocorticoid receptors in the distal tubules and collecting ducts of the nephron, influencing sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion, thereby affecting water retention, blood pressure, and blood volume.
Dysregulation of aldosterone contributes to cardiovascular and renal disease. Aldosterone has the opposite function of atrial natriuretic hormone secreted by the heart.
