Target Information
Kcnt2 calcium (Ca²⁺)-activated potassium channels (KCa) are 6/7-TM ion channels that selectively transport K⁺ ions across biological membranes.
KCa channels are divided into three subtypes: SK, IK, and BK (small, intermediate, and big conductance).
Kcnt2 is an outward rectifying potassium channel producing rapidly activating outward rectifier K⁺ currents.
It is activated by high intracellular sodium and chloride levels, and inhibited by ATP and inhalation anesthetics (e.g., isoflurane).
Functionally, Kcnt2 is inhibited upon stimulation of G-protein coupled receptors such as CHRM1 and GRIA1.
