Target Information
Ly49 receptors (lectin-like receptors) show allelic specificity for MHC class I Ia molecules and are believed to help prevent natural killer (NK) cells from attacking normal cells, while allowing them to target infected or transformed cells with down-regulated class I molecules. These inhibitory receptors are also expressed on subsets of mouse CD8⁺ T cells.
