Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins are subunits of ubiquitin protein ligase complexes (SCFs: SKP1–Cullin–F-box) involved in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
They are divided into three classes:

1. Fbws – containing WD-40 domains
2. Fbls – containing leucine-rich repeats
3. Fbxs – containing other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

The FBXW5 protein contains WD-40 domains and an F-box motif, belonging to the Fbw class. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified but are considered nonsense-mediated decay candidates.
