Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. The protein forms a heterodimer with transcription factor MAX, binding to the E-box DNA consensus sequence to regulate target gene transcription. Gene amplification is frequently observed in human cancers, and translocations involving MYC are linked to Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Translation initiates from both a non-AUG (CUG) and AUG start site, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
