Target Information
MST4 is a member of the Ste20-like kinase family of serine/threonine kinases and is overexpressed during prostate cancer development.
The encoded protein belongs to the GCK group III family of kinases, a subset of Ste20-like kinases. It contains an amino-terminal kinase domain and a carboxy-terminal regulatory domain that mediates homodimerization.
MST4 localizes to the Golgi apparatus and is specifically activated by binding to the Golgi matrix protein GM130. It may also be cleaved by caspase-3 and function in apoptotic pathways.
Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though not all full-length forms are determined.
