Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with canine, non-human primate, and Xenopus based on 100% sequence homology.

Target Information

NMDAR2B is a member of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) class of ionotropic glutamate receptors. NMDA receptors are involved in long-term potentiation, an activity-dependent increase in synaptic transmission efficiency, which is thought to underlie learning and memory. NMDAR2B plays a role in neuronal development and is implicated in central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic neuronal cell death. Overexpression of the NR2B subunit has been associated with enhanced learning and memory, while reduced NR2B expression is seen in aged, memory-impaired animals. Phosphorylation at Tyr1472 on NR2B may increase NMDAR expression at synapses, contributing to synaptic plasticity. NMDAR2B is a heterotrimer composed of NR1, NR2, and NR3 subunits. Dysfunction of NMDAR2B is linked to epileptic encephalopathy and autosomal dominant mental retardation.
