Target Information
Neurofilaments usually contain three intermediate filament proteins: NEFL, NEFM, and NEFH, which are involved in maintaining neuronal caliber.
NEFH plays an essential role in mature axons that is not substituted by the two smaller NF proteins.
These proteins may also cooperate with neuronal intermediate filament proteins PRPH and INA to form neuronal filamentous networks.
