Description:
The M18/2 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD18, the 90–95 kDa integrin beta 2 glycoprotein. CD18 is the common beta subunit that non-covalently associates with CD11a (alpha L), CD11b (alpha M), and CD11c (alpha X) to form LFA-1, Mac-1, and gp150/95. These heterodimers are broadly expressed by all leukocytes, with NK and T cells showing higher surface expression density. CD18 plays a critical role in cellular adhesion and immune response through its interactions with counter-receptors.

Applications Reported:
The M18/2 antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes and bone marrow cells. Recommended usage is ≤1.0 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal antibody titration is advised for best assay performance.

Target Information

CD18 (integrin beta 2 subunit) is a 90 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on all leukocytes. It forms heterodimers with CD11 molecules (CD11a–d) to create leukocyte (β2) integrins such as LFA-1, Mac-1, and others, mediating cell adhesion and signaling. Deficiency or mutation in CD18 causes leukocyte adhesion deficiency type I (LAD1) and related immune disorders. CD18 is also a receptor for Mannheimia haemolytica leukotoxin, mediating cytolysis.
