YPEL5 (yippee-like 5)는 centrosome 또는 mitotic spindle에 위치하는 다섯 가지 yippee-like 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 이 단백질들은 성체 및 태아 조직 모두에서 광범위하게 발현되며, 세포 분열과 관련된 보존된 기능을 수행하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
YPEL5는 간기 동안 핵과 중심체에 존재하며, 유사분열 중에는 spindle pole, mitotic spindle 및 spindle midzone에 위치합니다. 세포질 분열 시에는 midbody에 위치하며, Ran Binding Protein (RanBPM) 및 관련 단백질 RanBP10과 연관됩니다.
