Anti-Arginase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis against the specified buffer.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Rabbit Serum, as well as purified and partially purified Arginase [Bovine Liver].
Cross-reactivity against Arginase from other sources is unknown.

Target Information

Arginase-1 (Arg1) is a 35 kDa enzyme converting L-arginine to urea and L-ornithine, the final step in the urea cycle.
The resulting polyamines are crucial for cell proliferation and detoxification from protein degradation.
By degrading arginine, Arginase 1 deprives NO synthase of its substrate and down-regulates nitric oxide production.
In human and mouse, Arginase 1 is expressed in liver, neutrophils, myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC), and neural stem cells.
Expression in myeloid cells infiltrating tumors and hepatocellular carcinomas is common.
Defects in Arginase 1 cause argininemia, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hyperammonemia.
