Target Information
The structure-specific ERCC1/XPF endonuclease complex is involved in the repair of two types of DNA lesions:
- Nucleotide excision repair (NER) for UV-induced and bulky chemical adducts
- Recombination repair of interstrand cross-links
In mammalian cells, XPG cleaves the 3′ side of DNA lesions, while the ERCC1/XPF complex performs the 5′ incision. ERCC1/XPF also likely participates in processing recombination intermediates.
