Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is similar to yeast Sec31 protein, a component of the COPII protein complex responsible for vesicle budding from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It colocalizes with SEC13 in subcellular structures linked to vesicle transport. Immunodepletion experiments confirmed that this protein is required for ER-Golgi transport. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
