Target Information
SCO1은 효모에서 처음 확인된 cytochrome c oxidase(Complex IV) 조립 단백질로, cytochrome c holoenzyme의 조립을 돕습니다. 해당 복합체는 cytochrome c로부터 분자 산소로 환원 전자를 전달하고, 미토콘드리아 내막을 통한 양성자 펌핑을 촉진합니다.
SCO1과 SCO2는 구리 이온 결합에 의존하며, 두 유전자 중 하나의 돌연변이는 cytochrome c oxidase 호흡 사슬 결함을 유발할 수 있습니다. 인간 SCO1(P174L) 변이는 치명적인 신생아 간병증과 관련되어 있으며, 이는 구리(I) 이온 결합 친화도 감소로 인해 cytochrome c oxidase로의 구리 전달 효율이 저하되는 것으로 추정됩니다.
