ARX 단백질은 C-peptide(또는 aristaless domain)와 prd-like class homeobox domain의 두 가지 보존된 도메인을 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 group-II aristaless-related protein family에 속하며, 주로 중추 및 말초 신경계에서 발현됩니다. ARX는 중추신경계 발달에 관여하며, Arx 유전자의 돌연변이는 X-연관 지적 장애 및 간질을 유발할 수 있습니다.
