Target Information
DAPK3 (Death-associated protein kinase 3) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in cell motility, smooth muscle contractility, and cell death processes. It is encoded by ZIPK and forms part of desmosomes and the epidermal cornified envelope in keratinocytes.
The N-terminal domain interacts with the plasma membrane, while the C-terminal domain associates with intermediate filaments. Through its rod domain, DAPK3 forms complexes with envoplakin, potentially linking the cornified envelope, desmosomes, and intermediate filaments.
AKT1/PKB, a kinase involved in cell growth and survival signaling, interacts with DAPK3, suggesting a role in AKT1-mediated signaling localization.
