Target Information
TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that plays a key role in thyroid cell metabolism. The receptor binds thyrotropin and thyrostimulin, with activity mediated by adenylate cyclase. Defects in this gene are associated with various forms of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
