Target Information
Functions as a dual-specificity transcription factor, regulating the expression of both MAX-network and T-box family target genes. Acts as a repressor or activator by binding to the 5'-AATTTCACACCTAGGTGTGAAATT-3' core sequence. Regulates MYC-MAX target genes, suppresses transcriptional activation by MYC, and inhibits MYC-dependent cell transformation. Function is activated by heterodimerization with MAX, forming an E-box-binding heterodimer while blocking corepressor interaction. [UniProt]
