Background
This receptor binds insulin-like growth factor with high affinity and possesses tyrosine kinase activity. It plays a critical role in cellular transformation events. The precursor cleavage generates alpha and beta subunits. IGF1R is highly overexpressed in most malignant tissues, functioning as an anti-apoptotic agent by enhancing cell survival.
