Cellular Localization Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, cilium basal body, nucleus, and cell membrane. In response to integrins and SDC4 and upon phosphorylation by PKC, relocalizes from the cytoplasm to plasma membrane ruffling regions where it colocalizes with polymerized actin.

Background

The human glucocorticoid receptor DNA-binding factor associates with the promoter region of the glucocorticoid receptor gene (hGR gene) and acts as a repressor of glucocorticoid receptor transcription. The deduced amino acid sequence shows three zinc finger motifs and one leucine zipper-like motif where one cysteine replaces leucine. GRLF1 enhances homologous down-regulation of wild-type hGR expression. Biochemical analysis suggests that GRLF1 interaction is sequence-specific and that transcriptional efficacy is regulated through its interaction with specific sequence motifs. Expression levels are regulated by glucocorticoids. (RefSeq, Jul 2008)
