Target Information
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels are key components of potassium currents in the heart and central nervous system. In the heart, Kv4 channels are involved in the repolarization phase of the action potential, while in the brain they prevent reverse-propagation of action potentials.
KChIPs (Kv channel interacting proteins) are calcium-binding proteins associated with Kv4 channels, modulating their function.
- KChIP1: expressed in the brain
- KChIP2: expressed in brain, heart, and lung (three isoforms: a, b, c)
- KChIP3 (calsenilin/DREAM): expressed in brain and testis
