Target Information
The ACADL gene encodes a mitochondrial flavoenzyme belonging to the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family. This protein participates in the initial step of mitochondrial beta-oxidation of straight-chain fatty acids and is essential for fatty acid and branched-chain amino acid metabolism. Mutations in this gene can cause long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (LCAD) deficiency, associated with nonketotic hypoglycemia.
