Complement Factor D는 보체 활성화의 대체 경로(Alternative Pathway)에 관여하는 serine protease입니다. 단일 사슬 폴리펩타이드로 약 25 kDa의 분자량을 가지며, Factor B가 C3b에 결합한 상태에서 이를 절단하여 C3 convertase (C3bBb)를 형성하고 Ba fragment를 방출합니다.
