This antibody reacts with an internal epitope of MRP3, a 190–200 kDa transmembrane protein closely related to the multidrug resistance protein MRP1. M3II-21 was raised against a bacterial fusion protein of MRP3 containing amino acids 830–949.
M3II-21 does not cross-react with human MDR1, MRP1, MRP2, or MRP5 gene products.
This antibody is valuable for detecting MRP3-mediated drug resistance in human tumor samples.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes and are divided into seven subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White).
This protein is part of the MRP subfamily, associated with multi-drug resistance. Although its specific function is not fully determined, it may be involved in biliary and intestinal excretion of organic anions.
Alternative splicing produces different isoforms, but not all have been fully characterized.
