MAP3K8 (COT)는 serine/threonine kinase로, MAP 및 JNK kinase 경로를 활성화하며 세포 주기 조절에 관여합니다.
MAPK 신호전달 경로는 MAPK/ERK, MAPK kinase (MEK), MAPKK kinase (MEKK)로 구성되며, 단계적 인산화를 통해 활성화됩니다.
MEKK8은 NF-kappa-B1의 프로테아좀 매개 분해를 자극하여 NF-kappa-B1을 활성화할 수 있습니다.
이 단백질은 여러 정상 조직 및 암세포주에서 발현되며, 58 kDa 형태는 세포주기 S 및 G2/M 단계에서 활성화됩니다.
긴 형태는 주로 Ser 잔기에서, 짧은 형태는 Ser 및 Thr 잔기에서 인산화됩니다.
