Target Information
Bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) are members of the TGF-β superfamily and are involved in cartilage and bone formation. BMP-8 is associated with early development, with expression not detected in adult organs. Two BMP-8 proteins exist (BMP-8A and BMP-8B, also designated OP-2), encoded by distinct genes.
