Target Information
Nectin-3 is an 83 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin supergene family. It functions as a calcium-independent cell-cell adhesion molecule and is part of the nectin family (nectin-1 to nectin-4). Nectins mediate homophilic and heterophilic interactions forming various cell junctions, including adherens junctions, synaptic junctions, and Sertoli cell-spermatid junctions.
Nectin-3 (also known as PRR3) is predominantly expressed in testis and placental tissues, as well as in many cell lines. It interacts with afadin, an actin-binding protein, at cadherin-based cell-cell junctions. The ectodomains of nectin-3 and CD155 (Poliovirus Receptor) exhibit strong binding affinity. Experimental disruption of nectin-3 interactions can affect Sertoli cell structure and spermatid adhesion.
