Target Information
P2rx6 encodes receptors that are members of the ligand-gated ion channel family, which open in response to extracellular ATP. Each P2rx6 receptor is composed of a trimer of subunits (P2X1–7) sharing two transmembrane domains. The P2rx6 gene is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle and regulated by p53. The encoded protein associates with VE-cadherin at adherens junctions of human umbilical vein endothelial cells. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants of P2rx6.
