Target Information
O-methyltransferase that specifically monomethylates the 5'-monophosphate of cytoplasmic histidyl tRNA (tRNA(His)), acting as a capping enzyme that protects tRNA(His) from cleavage by DICER1. It can also methylate the 5'-monophosphate of a subset of pre-miRNAs, functioning as a negative regulator of miRNA processing. Methylation at this position reduces DICER1-mediated pre-miRNA processing. Reported to mediate dimethylation of pre-miR-145; however, other studies observed monomethylation of pre-miR-145.
