Target Information
This gene is a member of the MAGEA gene family. Members of this family encode proteins with 50–80% sequence identity to each other. The promoters and first exons of the MAGEA genes show variability, suggesting that the gene family enables similar functions under different transcriptional controls. MAGEA genes are clustered at chromosomal location Xq28 and have been implicated in hereditary disorders such as dyskeratosis congenita. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
