PAGE-3 (prostate-associated gene 3 protein), also known as GAGED1 (putative G antigen family D member 1), is a 113 amino acid protein belonging to the GAGE family. The PAGE3 gene spans approximately 6,432 bases and maps to human chromosome Xp11.21. Chromosome X contains about 153 million base pairs and nearly 1,000 genes.
Abnormalities in the number or combination of sex chromosomes can lead to conditions such as Turner’s syndrome, Klinefelter’s syndrome, and Triple X syndrome. X-linked conditions like color blindness, hemophilia, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy typically affect males more frequently due to their single X chromosome.
