p53AIP1 (p53-regulated apoptosis-inducing protein 1)은 인간 유전체 DNA에서 p53 결합 서열을 직접 클로닝하여 확인된 단백질입니다.
정상 p53에 의해 미토콘드리아 내 p53AIP1의 발현이 유도되어 세포자멸(apoptosis)을 유발합니다.
심한 DNA 손상은 p53의 Ser-46 인산화를 유도하고, p53AIP1 발현 및 세포자멸을 촉진합니다.
p53AIP1은 p53 의존적 세포자멸 경로 조절에 중요한 역할을 하며, Ser46의 인산화가 이 유전자의 전사 활성화를 조절합니다.
