Target Information
RIC8A is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that activates specific G-alpha proteins, including GNAI1, GNAO1, and GNAQ, but not GNAS. It regulates microtubule pulling forces during mitosis by stimulating G(i)-alpha protein, potentially releasing G(i)-alpha-GTP and NuMA proteins from the NuMA-GPSM2-G(i)-alpha-GDP complex. It also activates G(q)-alpha (GNAQ) protein, enhancing G(q)-coupled receptor-mediated ERK activation.
