Target Information
SFPQ (Splicing Factor Proline and Glutamine Rich), also known as PSF, encodes a nuclear factor implicated in splicing and gene expression regulation. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and repair.
Recent studies identified SFPQ as a downstream target of tau, showing nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may correlate with tau pathology, suggesting its key role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD.
SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules in various cell types.
