Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) family, which are type I transmembrane glycoproteins involved in cell adhesion and proteolytic ectodomain processing of cytokines and adhesion molecules.
This protein includes multiple functional domains such as a zinc-binding metalloprotease domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and an EGF-like domain.
Through its disintegrin-like domain, it specifically interacts with the integrin beta 3 chain and Src family tyrosine kinases in a phosphorylation-dependent manner, suggesting roles in cell-cell adhesion and signal transduction.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
