Target Information
Pre-mRNA splicing occurs in two sequential transesterification steps. The protein encoded by this gene is essential for the catalytic step II in the pre-mRNA splicing process. It is located in the spliceosome and contains seven WD repeats that function in protein–protein interactions. This protein shows sequence similarity to yeast Prp17, which is involved in both pre-mRNA splicing and cell cycle progression, suggesting a potential role in cell cycle regulation.
