Target Information
Phosphatidic acid phosphatase type 2 (PAP2) was originally identified as a plasma membrane enzyme that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of the second messenger phosphatidic acid (PA) to diacylglycerol (DG). Multiple isoforms of PAP2 were cloned and found to dephosphorylate various lipid phosphates, including lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). These enzymes are now referred to as lipid phosphate phosphatases (LPPs), consisting of four members: LPP1, LPP1a, LPP2, and LPP3.
