C2orf60는 wybutosine 생합성 경로의 구성요소로 작용하는 tRNA hydroxylase입니다. Wybutosine은 진핵 생물의 페닐알라닌 tRNA의 안티코돈 인접 위치에 존재하는 고도로 변형된 구아노신 유도체입니다.
이 효소는 7-(a-amino-a-carboxypropyl)wyosine (yW-72)을 undermodified hydroxywybutosine (OHyW*)으로 수산화하며, 이후 LCMT2/TYW4에 의해 hydroxywybutosine (OHyW)으로 전환됩니다. OHyW는 고등 진핵생물에서 발견되는 wybutosine의 유도체입니다.
